DJI flysafe

For now, they provide different purposes and you may need both depending upon the situation.

Kittyhawk can facilitate LAANC approval if the area you intend to fly supports it -- with that you would have FAA authorization to fly. DJI Flysafe is used if you need to authorize the drone to fly (because DJI will not let it take off in certain restricted areas), and depending upon the area, you may be able to self authorize through flysafe or directly in go app if you have internet available. If it is a more restricted area (which I imagine you mean when you use "tighter") then you will need to submit your LAANC approval to DJI to get them to unlock it for you, in which case yes, you need both.

Hopefully at some point soon, DJI can integrate/facilitate LAANC approval and getting approval automatically allows the bird to fly, but that's not the case for now.
