Last year we had a chinese balloon do a spy mission all the way across the United States. We have had iphones and and even military electronic components built in China for decades. China can have farmland all acros the US that is located very close to military bases. But us modelers are going to compromise national security by flying 400 over the ground even though we are restricted from flying near almost anything manbuilt. Thats nonsense. To make matters worse the US doesnt have enough talent to make a competetive product to fill the void. I guess DJI doesnt care cause they are probably selling a crapload of drones to Ukraine and Russia. This whole FAA and national security crap has some other purpose but in the end its the RC modelers that take the hit

Ukraine and Russia is likely a very small portion of product sales for DJI as the world is much bigger than those two combined plots of earth.
The ”crap” will continue regardless of our line of thinking. Possibly may be time to at least start considering an alternative hobby. May have to dust off some of my old RC boat paraphernalia. Hopefully the FCC hasn’t banned my old radio!

Its all about the US market share being kidnapped from DJI. That or attempting to ransom said. Same thing with Tiktok The spy and child abuse evil media we now own.

I couldnt agree more with your statements except that DJI hasnt sold a drone to the Ukraine or Russia since 2022.

Well, some 10,000 Mavic 3's were added monthly to Ukraine's arsenal to replace losses. DJI clearly benefited financially from their use, regardless of where Ukraine sourced them from.

It is nothing but a bunch of BS. There's so much technology out there and so many ways to gather surveillance. I'm sure nobody cares about my backyard photos and videos.

Or an alternative country to fly in? I was recently in Canada. There doesn’t seem to be a DJI-phobia there. Is that the result of clear thinking?

You've echoed my exact thoughts.

It simply does not make sense that all of this is because of the risk of spying from China. There would be much larger, low hanging fruit to handle if that was the concern.

I wonder if some of this is also pushed by Amazon. It's easier to have BVLOS autonomous delivery drones if you don't have to worry about other drones in the sky.

Amazon sells lots of tin foil too
Which part doesn't seem plausible to you, companies affecting government regulation for an advantage or Amazon not wanting other drones in the sky?

I'm not saying it's happening, simply that I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I'm pretty sure its really about hijacking the DJI US market share. We have already seen this with TikTok, The US now has the market share.
I really believe behind the scenes if they make a deal to get cut in there will be no ban. Giving the high profile Coke head a million dollar pentagon contract is a bluff move. If you look at the drone and FPV mfgs he will be dealing with they use lots of DJI electronics!
