If your DJI drone has crashed into a lake, river, or saltwater — don’t panic! I’ve created a detailed step-by-step video guide on how to recover and clean a water-damaged drone to give it the best chance of survival.
In this tutorial, I cover:
  • What to do immediately after water exposure
  • Why you should never use rice or a hair dryer
  • The difference between freshwater and saltwater damage
  • How to safely disassemble your drone
  • Proper cleaning techniques using distilled water, vinegar, and isopropyl alcohol
  • Drying, inspection, and safe reassembly tips
✅ This guide is suitable for all DJI drone models, including Mavic, Air, Mini, FPV, etc.

⚠️ Please note: Performing DIY repairs can void your warranty. If your drone is still under warranty, it’s best to contact official DJI support before attempting any disassembly.

Feel free to ask any questions or share your experience — I’ll do my best to help!

After watching this video, I decided I would never attempt my own cleaning. Even though I used to operate on eyes (I am a retired eye surgeon), I have learned to respect the specialists and send it in.
