Drones "Spying" on New Jersey.

It will be easy case to prove. He was caught in the act and tried to lie his way out of it. But the AFB tracked the entire flight.

I don't think so. Foxnews has outright lies where they say things and they for sure know it isn't true at the time they are saying it. Newnation gets it wrong and they fix it, iow they are trying to do better but not so far as our fake partners over at CNN. I consider them in the middle and since I'm in the middle, I watch a lot of newsnations....plus they are often and readily available and timely on YT. in the end, I make up my own mind.

Their coverage of the drone situation in NJ has been more than fair. They cover both sides adequately meaning they don't pretend this is a big nothing burger but they also try to knock down all those conspiracies theories that keep popping up. Now I'm hearing about the government preparing the public for the big reveal about aliens are here and have been here for awhile (nonsense).

I think New England Droning had them confused with some hack news outlet ... the names of some outlets are pretty similar. I checked with AllSides and they rate NewsNation just slightly right of dead center.

He might be thinking about NewsMax, that outlet is about as far right as you can get.

AllSides actually places NewsNation right in the middle. But I agree, NewsNation is right of center (based on my personal observation).

Yeah, NewsMax is pretty bad. It's one thing to have a right wing bias, which is fine if you have that slant, but NewsMax also rates low for accuracy.

Here's a website that ranks media outlets for both bias (selective reporting) and reliability (falsehoods and opinion presented as fact). Research Guides: News Media Across the Political Spectrum: Starting Point: 1. "The Chart"

Actually, any slant by a news agency is problematic. I want facts, not opinion, and facts that cover everything, not just what consumers want to hear. And generally, the best way to deal with issues is to be centrist and consider everything available.

I totally agree, which is why I only frequent websites that rate generally neutral for bias and strong for accuracy. I'll occasionally check non-neutral sites just to understand what other people are seeing, but that's it.

Unfortunately, FAR too many people only read what they want to see and hear ... although of course they have the right to do that no matter how ignorant it makes them as a result.

The drone uproar had me nervous on a recent mapping/model mission.
I'm in NJ and dreaded the flight.
The first thing I asked the client was do you know your neighbors and will you be there the entire time.
I braced for the worst but had no problems. I did not see a single person outside their home.

Be safe out there fellow flyers, it may be some time before this all dies down.

Get cards with your pertinent information and a phone number for the FAA to verify that the information is accurate.
If someone hassles you, hand them the card. Same if the police show up and ask questions.

One of the weird things about you humans is the way you get nervous when you've done nothing wrong.

Aliens would be smart enough to try and spoof Earth based aircraft.
I once saw a cartoon in Calvin and Hobbes where Calvin said that "the fact that aliens haven't contacted us yet proves there is intelligent life in the universe."

For reference, here's what a drone looks like on Christmas Eve in the skies over Paulina, Louisiana before the lighting of the traditional bonfires on the Mississippi River levee. It was a DJI Mavic 3 Pro flown by the St. James Parish Sheriff's Department, filmed at a distance of about 200 yards with a Mini 4 Pro at 1X on auto mode.

It closely resembles the alien invaders, foreign reconnaissance aircraft, secret military weapons, and other horrors filmed over New Jersery.

We were there for the traditional bonfires lighted along the levee to guide Papa Noel's sleigh.

I apologize, I did confuse them but I really didn't want to go in a political direction. I'm very worried that whatever these are they will give ammunition to all the karens out there... My brother in law has seen me flying my drone (in Vermont) and he loves my pictures but when I went up there before Christmas, he asked my opinion...
I said I don't know what they are but I believe most are just aircraft miss-ID'd as drones and a few others that might be people legally flying (or not) but I doubt it was Iran or whoever...
He asked if we should be able to shoot them down??? Now I'm getting alarmed (I don't believe he owns a gun but...) I said no its a federal offense and he's like even if they are flying over my house? I said yes, some of them are supposed to be real big and you don't want to drop them on your neighbors house... He said "HE DIDN'T CARE!!!" I was horrified and tried to explain how he would feel if he shot something down and it crashed through a roof AND hurt or killed someone...

Now he has always been level-headed till now and I don't know what has set him off except the mainstream media... Or he has been brain-washed... This is why I try to fly away from people!

Unfortunately our current culture has been directed towards fear and retribution. It's not really his fault.
I know a lot of people who want to make a big deal out of whatever the news of the day is. I try to tell them to stop and think from many different angles before forming an opinion but it seems few are willing to do that these days.

Even before drones became a thing in the news, people have secretly hated them and wanted to shoot them down. It's funny how no one wants to jam them down or repel them away or block their sensors or "laser" them to death....they want to use brute force instead. And it's not even easy to knock a drone down that doesn't want to be hit.

Unfortunately that's the way most people are. Honestly, I think there's something about the drone itself that does this to people and it's always going to be that way for a long, lone time whether the drone is for fun, for delivery, doing work, or even law enforcement. America is still not completely ready for drones.

I know it's been said there are millions of drones in the US and thousands flying daily but I think that is misleading. Outside of a drone event, I've never seen more than 3 or 4 drones flying at the same time and it was long ago enough that I cannot remember when. I think it's a bit of a stretch that one sees multiple drones daily but what do I know from BFE Nebraska (not really there). I don't care where you live (regardless what people say), anytime you see 10 or 12 drones flying at the same time across the vast skies as far as you can see in all directions....you're going to freak out. You'll have a range of reactions from "wow, what the heck is going on, why are so many drones out at the same time" (me) to the extremes which we saw in NY/NJ.

Well, I'm not nearly as accepting of the excuse, "society, our culture made me do it".

If you know something's wrong, you're 100% responsible if you do it. YOU had the agency, no one else. I've never ever in my life acted without my conscious control. My hands don't do things while in my head I scream, "no!" but am helpless to control them.

That's the stuff of science fiction and mental illness. I've done things I shouldn't have in my life, and was in control and responsible 100% for my actions and behavior.

Shooting at something in the sky when you don't know what it is is wrong, very wrong. That falls into the category of such basic "common sense" that ignorance is not an acceptable excuse.

Everyone knows that there are people in most of those lighted things we see in the sky. At the very least everyone knows there could be for an unidentified object in the night sky. Shooting at one, when you don't know what it is is stupid beyond reason.

Even before drones became a thing in the news, people have secretly hated them and wanted to shoot them down. ...

Unfortunately that's the way most people are.

Perhaps your neighbors feel that way. But only a small minority of people want to shoot drones down and only a handful of nitwits actually try to do it. How many instances of drones being shot down were there last year? I recall two being discussed here.
I know it's been said there are millions of drones in the US and thousands flying daily but I think that is misleading. Outside of a drone event, I've never seen more than 3 or 4 drones flying at the same time

The land area of the lower 48 US states is about two billion acres. It would be easy for you to miss a few of those thousands of drones flying each day.

But yes, seeing ten or twelve drones simultaneously is rare. So is seeing ten or twelve posssums at the same time.
