First Mavic kiteboarding edit

The Mavic is hard to spot in the sky, more so than other drones. I think the most important thing is that the rider(s) know you have a drone out around them. If its busy, stay out of the launch area and find a spot upwind away from the crowd to film. Safer for the drone and safer for the riders.

Like was said before if you stay to the backside (upwind) of the rider, the kite will never be an issue at all, and you should be able to get nice and close with little danger. Of course if there are other riders around be mindful of them as well, and even let the other riders at the spot know you will be filming with a drone. Keep a safe distance from riders who look like they are new or might not know there is a drone around.

A little communication goes a long way. Plus if some of the more confident riders know there is a camera out they will probably do some showboating for some nice boosting shots.

I guess also a good thing to keep in mind is the wind factor. If you do get far downwind of your takeoff spot be sure you have enough juice to get back in that headwind. Or have a downwind spot in mind to land if you can't make it back :p.
