Forced landing

I was told at the DJI forum to try here

After updating I went flying and with the drone a long ways away and with 30% battery it forced landing . It stated that battery was criticaly low. I was over water when I lost signal near the shore and by the grace of something it landed on the beach at the edge of the water. Now when I got it back to the vehicle i put it up 10 feet and it still said low battery and forced the landing. My controller battery had one light on and second one flashing. Could that be why it forced a landing?. I thought it would just come back home if the controller went dead

Here is the flight log attached

Hoping for some answers

Please share your flight log.

Here is the flight log attached
No flight data attached

To post your flight data there are a couple of options ...

1. Go to DJI Flight Log Viewer | Phantom Help
Follow the instructions there to upload your flight record from your phone or tablet.
That will give you a detailed report on the flight data.
Come back and post a link to the report it provides and someone might be able to analyse it and give you an understanding of the cause of the incident.
or
2. Just post the .txt file here
or
3. If you use Airdata, you can view the flight data on Airdata and post a link for the Airdata report

If you are using one of the controllers with an integrated screen, the txt files are to be found here:
Android\data\dji.go.v5\files\FlightRecord

Here's the thread from the DJI forum:

That's not a valid TXT flight log file. It's likely either corrupt or only a partial file.

The flight logs will help BUT You went flying without fully charged batteries that is where your problems began...

"I went flying and with the drone a long ways away and with 30% battery it forced landing"

If you're going to fly with batteries that low, stay within VLOS and definitely not over water. You're supposed to that anyway but for sure when you know your battery is at those levels in either the aircraft or controller. It sounds as though things were working as designed.

Am I missing something, what makes people think the flight was started with a low battery ?
It sounded as if he went flying with a 30 percent battery to start with I could be wrong. lol The OP should check their settings. Maybe they are set to land at 30 percent after the update. I have seen changes occur after updates.

Yes... you're wrong.
Read what he said again:

Sorry, I guess I interpreted that way as well. Apparently you had the critical battery level set to 30% or it dipped to 30% (or lower) at some point. It is lucky you were not well out over the water at that point or it was well on it's way back.
I didn't think the controller battery level low would force a landing. As you said it would just initiate a RTH after the controller shut down. Can't say, I've never left mine get that low during a flight.

The drone battery was fully charged and was flying around and at 30% it said critically low. 15 minutes later when i found the drone and took it back to vehicle it said there was 30% battery so I went up abound 20 feet and it said critically low and landed. the controller battery was flashing the second light from the end and when I got home charged the controller and with 30% battery on the drone went out side and flew and it never said low battery and forced a landing. Went out last night and flew just fine to 25% battery from full charge.

@Kelowna Drone World

Try this, a flight log from the Phantom website that actually meta 4 is involved with.

Your try to hard to upload data.

Just a link this that is URL address, when see your results.

"****://www.phantomhelp.com/logviewer/RWTHY28RM8N6S7JB84AL1LD5T1YZA070"

I replaced https with ****
Couldn't find another way.

Copy, paste the URL as I did.
