Gear to setup with

Yes I thought buying those also but I purchased 2 landing pads one for take off and one for emergency landing they keep the ground pretty clear. Do the landing gear increase weight and reduce flying time ? Being new I want to maximise time in the air ?
I consider the landing gear weight to be negligible (25 grams). My Firehouse ARC 2 lights (3), including the mounts (67 grams). What does it take to impact flight time significantly? The benefits to me outweigh the reduction in flight time.

Cool I will add it I have permission from a local farmer to use 2 fields of his to practise with which is fantastic. I said once I am qualified I will do a free roof survey of his property as a thanks !!!!

That’s good of him.

Before anyone else mentions it, make sure your friendly farmer is aware you cannot legally accept any form of reward/payment/favour without a commercial licence. That said the airspace above his fields is governed and ‘belongs’ to the CAA so asking his permission is definitely a good and polite practice.

I prefer to use an 8" tablet as it's easier to see than a phone for me. I happen to have an iPad mini 4 which works very well with my Mavic 2 zoom. Apparently you need a mini 5 for the Mavic Air 2.

I prefer Android personally, but my experience has always been with cheaper Android devices that can only just do phone calls. No chance they would fly a drone! So whichever operating system you choose you need to invest in a decent one. I got the mini 4 because a good refurbished one without GPS and cellular is very affordable.

I got an iPad mini 5 for about 20 pounds a month no deposit on ee with 25gb of internet I figured it was better to just add this to my business phone account and in 24 months I get to keep it. Just need a holder now !!!

Polar Pro do a good holder for the iPad but good luck trying to find it on their website.

PGY-Tech also do them and is the one I was thinking of getting:

There’s several on Amazon too but can’t speak for their quality. Maybe others here can recommend.

OK if you can do that!

In my case we log all our spending in the interests of household budgeting, so getting that pass the boss might be a hard one!
