Hello all,

Bought myself a Mavic 2 Zoom a few weeks ago. Discovered your forum and found some useful tips. Figured I'd join officially instead of lurking.

Always had a love for photography, and anything RC - Been having fun, waiting for the sun to do more than peek out for five minutes.

If anyone is in/near central New Jersey and has suggestions for places to fly, give a holler.

We call ourselves the Jersey Droners

It’s actually just me and my neighbor occasionally another friend..

I like having someone else to fly with because of the sketchy places we go sometimes.

Morgan marina Sayreville,nj off of spy rd or bay side just past the rt35 drawbridge.. walk outside the park so we don’t have a ranger ban us.

The park waterfront in South Amboy But park in back circle and walk outside the park so ranger doesn’t kick you out. Don’t fly back over the park or houses. Stay over the water.

Train yard in Manville, nj Lost valley section.

Carteret boat launch you can fly south to thecArthur Kill boat graveyard. Ships from WWII what’s left of them

Border of south river and Sayreville Water St. fly here’s a little park at end

Brunswick Rutgers boat house area but go to the end where people fish

Princeton lake Carnegie When there’s no rowing event

I was hesitant to post because if people start going to these spots when they are crowded we will get banned from them.

Early in morning is best. If it’s a park, look at maps to see where the park ends and fly from outside the park. If you aren’t part 107 you will need to call airports in Manville and possibly Carteret.

Hey Their Gord saw your post to Jimk I live in Willingboro and when not at a group meeting I head out by myself to the local park(by Rancocas Creek) with no one around to practice maneuvers and honing in on video skills. Would be nice to fly with a couple of buddies at some of the local spots you mentioned. I currently work in Pennsauken School District as a Audio Video Tech. I have cameras but basically I use my OSMO pocket to film. I have a Mavic Air and looking into adding the Mavic Zoom 2. I get out of school on 14 June so have the rest of summer to fly. Here is my email addy [email protected] Hope to hear from you soon!!

Would be fun to do a group flight. Maybe Carteret to get to the Arthur Kill boat graveyard Or the Raritan bay Great Beds Lighthouse. Both require over water for 3000 plus feet. If you are strict about the rules you should have strobes ...ive done it without but bought firehouse strobes now..You can fly at 50 feet all the way out.

I wonder how many of us are teachers. I teach music in Rahway Schools.

Filaofsoul,
What park do you fly out of? Was thinking of going up to Rancocas Creek sometime, but am not familiar with the area.
Thanks,
Phil

Very nice!!

Okay let’s just set something up and see who can make it.

Jersey Droners Meet

Saturday May 18th 6:30am

115 Middlesex Ave
Carteret, NJ 07008
United States

Carteret Arthur Kill boat ramp.it’s a few minutes off turnpike. You can see in the picture that it’s 3000 ft? to the scrap yard on bottom, but it’s the only public place to get to the location.

Train bridge in Matawan, NJ just stumbled upon it. Had to fly right next to power area and lots of power lines..Found a picture of the same bridge from early 1900s. after flying there I ended up just north of sandyhook ...well outside the park.. flew from a marina and came upon a very strange dock.. that’s all I have to say about that... probably lucky I still have my drone..

(check out maps you can’t miss it... strange thing is it doesn’t say what the dock is and AirMap the app the FAA tells part 107 pilots to use does not have it listed as restricted airspace. Only over land is marked restricted.)
