Hello everyone, and thank you for welcoming me into this group!

My family and I currently live on the west side of Houston, Texas, though most of our relatives are back in central Texas. I’m an instrument-rated private pilot and the proud owner of a Beechcraft Bonanza BE35 V-tail. Just last week, I added a Part 107 certification to my credentials and received my temporary certificate on Saturday—exciting times!

I've been dabbling with drones since around 2015, starting with various beginner-level models and working my way through countless versions over the years. As of midnight tonight, I’m officially “hanging up my spurs” from my career as a software and web developer and thinking about what comes next. My dream is to find something that blends what I enjoy with the possibility of earning a little extra along the way—a win-win in my book!

What really fascinates me are the technical aspects of drone operations: photogrammetry, mapping, surveying, and the like. When it comes to creative, cinematic work, let’s just say I’m probably better suited for precision tasks—I’ll leave the breathtaking vistas to the artistic pros out there!

Looking forward to connecting with all of you, learning from your experiences, and exploring where this journey might lead.

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA. We have a Member's Map in the Upper Right of the Title Bar. Click on "Members" and then Click on "Member's Map…" Check it out and you might find some new flying friends.

Wait until that permanent Certification arrives, take it outside in the sunlight, the FAA Hologram looks like it's on fire…

If you have a Facebook Presence then you might connect with the Texas Drone Pilot Group…

Additionally, we have a Sub Forum for Texans…

Also, if you travel on vacation, visit friends, and relatives in other parts of the country, check here so you do not run afoul of the law.

If that photo of your Bonanza was shot with your drone, then you were flying your drone over 400'… L 🤣 L . . .

Not to worry, sometimes I fly my drone too high and too fast... L 😂 L . . .

Thanks for the info. I'm on it.

The photo was taken by a friend from an A36. The big bird lands at 75kts and stops flying around 55kts. Short list of drones that could keep up.

Welcome to the forum and I am so jealous lol Love the plane !!!!!!! I have the newer model with all the bells a whistles . It cost me almost 30 bucks and is my favorite Flight simulator airplane! 😂
I am an aviation junkie and long ago took lessons but don't fly for real unless its an RC plane or Drone.

Welcome to the forum from Northwest, New Jersey. I, too, am starting to dabble in mapping and photogrammetry, especially 3D. I'm trying to decide if the Mavic 3E is worth the investment and how much I can earn on the side. A lot of YouTube videos claim one can make a ton of money. We'll see.

100%. I mainly fly a Mini 4 Pro but looking to add RTK or upgrade. The jump in price to an Enterprise model or another RTK model is so steep, I'm having a hard time justifying it. Considering starting with NTRIP and PPK to test the waters.
