Hi all,

I bought few weeks ago the DJI Mavic Mini.
My main motivation was and still is to make the time lapse photo shooting of my house building process - it will start on 1st of September, so not much time left...

Until yesterday I was mainly using the DJI FLY app, but now I am starting to play with Litchi, which I hope will bring soon the update with working Waypoints mode.
Does somebody has another ideas how to start with time lapse shooting?

Greetings!

Hello, welcome friend :D

Willkommen in unserem Forum, djborsi, von Hauptmann in Texas, USA.

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual (link below), and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have over 100,000 members from around the world--including many Germans--who will help you learn your new hobby! Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Ich bin froh, dass du beigetreten bistus!

Welcome here also from me, I am just about 30km away from you ;)
I guess Litchi will do the job quite soon. But the main problem with the Mini is, its flight controller does not support waypoints as other Mavics do. So the mission must be totally controlled by the mobile device by using virtual stick commands. Therefore waypoint missions with the Mini will never be as powerful as they are with other Mavics.

The little Mavic Mini has its limitations, it's best that you become very familiar with them in calm conditions. That said, I've flown over 60 YouTube videos with the Mini, and you learn pretty fast what they are. Just some quick tips: Be aware of the wind, stay away from metal objects when you take off, and always do a compass calibration if you're flying in a new location. Happy flying!
