I was flying my Mini this afternoon and noticed the exposure on my videos were much darker than when I took pictures. It was early evening but still daylight. movies vs pictures of the same object were much darker. Suggestions and help would be appreciated.
As always great forum. Thanks
Jerry

The settings between video and photos are different, when you switch modes, exposure can change and you can adjust each mode.

Both were on automatic. Shouldn’t it look similar?

It would depend on the light hitting the sensor as the image was taken. Even a slight angle change can make a difference to how the exposure is read.

The exposure value, shutter speed, aperture and ISO value will be recorded in the photo’s EXIF data that you should be able to read from most photo apps on your computer.

It would be worth checking with a stationary light source such as a lamp with the aircraft on a table and take a photo and video clip to compare.

Also check there is no Exposure Compensation active.

I’ve had a few cases where switching between photo and video on a Mavic 2 Pro have shown the video to be overexposed but it’s not repeatable. In my case it could be the difference between 16x9 video and 4x3 photo and the area the sensor is using to calculate the ‘correct’ exposure.
