Christmas present from better half, DJI Mini 2 Flymore. Had small, cheap drone to try out, see if I liked it. LOVED flying it. Unfortunately, it loved flying off more than it liked to be controlled. Flew away in a series of (not very strong) gusts of wind. Woes aside, took the plunge and got the Mini2. First flight today and it was BRILLIANT. So stable. Hovers in light wind. Baby steps to start with, I found a large two-football field space to practice. In and around the goalposts got easier. Bit scary for me when I took it high but I'm sure I'll get used to that. Exhausted a battery and a half before the rain came on. Kinda expected it, I stay in Scotland after all. :) Hiya folks, hope I can contribute in the future.

Welcome to the forum! :)

Here are some things to help you get started with your Mini 2:
  • The current Mini 2 manual can be downloaded here (it doesn't come in the box). Other important documents can be found on the Mini 2 downloads page.

  • Check out this getting started guide for some tips not found in the Mini 2 manual.

  • This video covers all the basics of the Mini 2.

  • Your drone batteries will last longer if you use and maintain them like this.

  • Practice flying outdoors in a wide open location that's free of all obstacles. Don't attempt to fly inside your house or in other confined locations.

  • The drone records flight data each time you fly. You can decrypt and view those flight logs with these tools.

  • Check out MavicHelp.com for commonly used accessories you might need.

I’m a newbie in Scotland too, and got a 2nd hand Mavic Pro for wildlife photography. You’ll laugh at my newbie gaff, a few weeks ago some dolphins came in really close to the shore and I was seeing fabulous images of them on the screen, 5 adults and 3 calves looking like something from a wildlife documentary. I rushed home and tore the SD card out and ... nothing! I’d forgotten to press record!
Enjoy your flying:)

I have done this.... so many times. Heavy sigh.

Sure, just what we need, another person who'll contribute drone video to this forum from one of the most beautiful countries in the world...mountains, loches, castles, oceans, ancient forests. More video of stunning scenery to put to shame the stuff I can shoot here in east Texas! Just kidding of course. Welcome to the forum. Can't wait to see what your drone sees. Contribute often when you're ready.
