Hi guys, 4 year Phantom Veteran, now Mavic flyer not having a good experience so far. Had mine 4 days before the Gimbal literally smoked and went haywire while in the air over a Scottish Loch.

Hopefully can redeem some faith in the Mavic by joining you guys, I really thought the Mavic would be the ideal replacement for my P2P portability and deployment issues.

Hi, dirkclod, thanks for the welcome! Might start a thread on the gimbal issue I had with Video & Telemetry to see if others have had similar issues. I'm trying to remain positive with the Mavic as i think it's an awesome drone, but it's the first DJI drone I've had this serious issue with.

I'm pretty meticulous when it comes to pre-flight checks and monitoring the status of the drone but this fault came right out of the blue. I'm still wondering how I got the thing back and didn't end up in the Loch

Looking forward to share the info, and hopefully some future positives. The three days I had before this incident i can only describe as totally awesome Thumbswayup

The Mavic is a great drone overall. Hopefully DJI gets you back up and running soon.

Hi LMTJ, Many thanks, I'm so glad I come across this forum, it really seems a gold mine of Mavic information. The Mavic is sure one of the best designs I've come across. Reading all the positives in this forum really does give me confidence in this quad, despite my initial experience with it. It's the only quad that has even sparked (excuse the pun) interest from my better half, my Wife in this brilliant hobby / interest.

So keen to get mine sent off, find the root cause and move on with the Mavic.

Agreed msinger, I can't let my incident cloud the fact the Mavic has been a success for many over the last year or so. I took a 4 month decision on purchasing the Mavic over the P4P+ studying a plethora of YouTube reviews and videos etc

I've had phantoms for 4 years with very little major issues so this is my first experience with DJI's repair / incident reporting, I hope I can remain positive ;)

Hang in there. I'm sure DJI will work everything out for you.
