How can it be that it took DJI to make the improved props?

I always assumed the Mavic's props were aerodynamically optimized. So hearing that the new props come with an astonishing 40% reduction, I can't help but wonder why nobody else has made such props before and sold them? Is it so difficult to calculate this stuff?

They will work with the mavic pro but not as efficiently as with the pro platinum.
