With winter coming up, how cold is to cold to fly? The specs say one thing, but what’s the reality ?

I suppose the optimal situation would be to set the drone outside for a bit so the camera lense can get acclimated to the cold air, while keeping the battery in the heated car or house.

I suppose aggressive flying may also keep the batteries slightly warmer.

What’s your experience?

Would taping a hand warmer to the battery also make a difference?

Dang... I did the newbie question of what oil should I use on my new KTM EXC 450 on the KTMtalk forum and got the “hey let me google that for you...”

I’ve flown in -40 Celsius with my P3S. Flew in -10 a few days ago with my Mavic. Performed fantastic. I say go ahead, just fly a little more conservatively than usual.

Keep the MP batteries, and remote, somewhere warm right until you need them. Inside pockets of thick, warm, jackets are fine.
Batteries lose power when their core temps get below zero.
