not sure if this has been mentioned or beat to death, the mav is rated for 5k folds open and close, how many times have u folded/unfolded your mav, i luv the portable nature of the mav but thats a pretty short life span, if my backpack was bigger i would leave her unfolded all the time, and the weak sd card slot posts have me concerend too, call me paranoid ill leave the mav unfolded and never take the sd out haha,

if you take it out once a day that is 13.7 years MTBF. I'm good with it.

I am less happy with having to eject the SD card to retrieve the content, but the alternative is to power up the aircraft, which means removing the props. no thanks.

Why would it? I have not heard of a single case of "spontaneous takeoff", my props have been on for maybe 6 months now without ever touching them.

But I agree with you that 5000 arm actuations are way more than your average Mavic will ever see...

Ahh yes I didn't calculate like that. 5k seemed small but I guess it's not. I'm pretty sure I'll lose her or crash before that.almost lost her in water the other day but she survived to last another day

Flying fast with abrupt pitch and direction changes in sport mode is a lot more damaging for the arm 'swivel stops' than gently folding and unfolding the arms.

it's a basic safety precaution not to power up an electric aircraft indoors with the props on. the Mavic is a far more "finished" product than a scratchbuilt but I'm not going to be the first victim.

I just use the micro plug and watch it on my computer never take the card out

1year same props still perfection

and that means taking the props off for safety. easier to eject the card.

As has been stated above ~the Mavic won't randomly fire-up the motors. To date on these forums, I believe it is safe to say that, there are zero posts for a random start up of any kind. The only time my props come off is for inspection and changing them over to a new set.

The Controller is turned off phone off AC turned on No auto start / no pulling handles back for start up either. Hard part is putting mirco plug into AC. LOL

no, it's not supposed to. nor is my circular saw supposed to just power up while I am changing the blade, but I still pull the plug. because "not supposed to" is not the same as "will not".

power yours up indoors with the props attached if you like, the skin off the nose is quite literally yours.

Do you check the coolant level in your car before every ride? Because technically you're supposed to...

Just saying sometimes you CAN be too safe...

no, because I have a temperature gauge to make that unnecessary. I do however unplug saws before changing blades, blenders before sticking knives into the choppers to get the last bits out, turn off lamps before changing bulbs etc.

because it only takes seconds, and it only has to go wrong once to be very sorry.

as I said though, by all means do what you think is appropriate.

Wifi interference might still have an influence on a powered on, unbound Mavic. It's a small risk though. I'm better safe than sorry and always have my RC on (and props off) when I have to power on the Mavic inside the house.
