How serious is a high speed wind warning?

I think the biggest question to answer can it go into auto land and can you stop it. Like one guy said, if you are over water and can’t stop the auto land,if indeed that’s what it will try, you are screwed. It happened to me the other day. All I remember is it asking for a confirm. I didn’t know if I was committing myself If I answered yes
