I can't seem to find out exactly WHERE to go in DJI Go4 to apply for LAANC clearance - or any other app for that matter. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I could be wrong here but the only way I see to do it is through their very cumbersome unlock system web site. (But according to some here it's all me and the system is simple and easy...
just google dji map unlock or such and it will take you to the web page with a lot of instructions and a map .... then be prepared for a bit of a learning curve.... one important part.... they want the FLIGHT CONTROL NUMBER not the remote control's serial number..... oh you also need a cell phone..... to receive the unlock code once you have works through their (ever so simple system).... why the United States is at the almost very bottom of the scroll down menus... as well as if you choose "voice massage" instead of text message... well you see how I feel about it...
Oh and don't try to use Safari as your web browser for this... it won't work....

Recommend using FAA DroneZone, AirMap, or Kittyhawk. I have never asked DJI for permission to fly.
You apply for a LAANC clearance through vendors like Kittyhawk, Airmap and Skyward.
DJI GO 4 doesn't (yet) have LAANC capability directly - you have to use a third-party app.

Getting FAA authorization to fly (via LAANC) is a completely different process from unlocking DJI geo zones.
The only time that DJI would be involved would be if you obtained LAANC authorization to fly in controlled airspace that is in a DJI restricted zone. That would need a custom unlock from DJI and they would require LAANC (or FAA DroneZone) authorization details to do that.
