Indoor flight

Couldn't get drone to respond to stick comands very good. Is that normal for inside?

I have flown indoors regularly, sometimes even in GPS mode. A group of us fly in winter in a local village hall. This is a reasonable size space and I have never had any problems with control. I suspect the problems you are having are due to sensing obstructions, especially if you are flying in a confined space. I assume you have obstacle avoidance on.

You are probably right. It was a vedy confined space and it was my first flight. A lot of opperator malfunction!
