Looking at switching from my OG Mavic Pro to the FPV - thoughts?

Yes you can build yourself, or buy RTF or BNF, or go for any of the micro / nano drones, ducted props for extreme safety and tight flying, lots of options.
Building your own fpv drone gas huge advantages though, mostly that you know the drone front to back and can easily fix it when you most likely crash eventually.

Again rather overestimated, to build it by yourself doesn't give that much ... a quad is surprisingly simple in it's build. When it comes to the electronics used in a DJI digital build today, it's mainly 5-7 closed components depending on the setup which usually aren't reparable.

1. Camera
2. All in one ESC+FC board
3. Resistor
4. Video unit (CaddX Vista or DJI Air unit)
5. Antenna
Extra:
6. GPS unit
7. Self powered beeper

The rest is simply screws, nuts/press-nuts, stand-offs, frame parts, 3D printed parts, motors, wiring & props.

If I break an arm ... it's only 2 screws to take the old off, & 3-4 screws to get the motor out of the way & a couple pieces of tape. The swap takes under 5 minutes to do.
