Mav4 Ordered

I asked DJI for clarification on the repair issue when getting something from Korea or wherever...their response made be very glad I backed out of the Mav4 order. They said, "Thank you for waiting, yes, if you purchased from Korea then your device will have a warranty in Korea and you can send it to Korea to apply for warranty service, but for the US, because of the shortage of materials, the repair service is not available at the moment, but you can keep an eye on our official website and we will let you know there as soon as we have the latest news!" Previously they told me I could get repairs. No way to know why the discrepancy. Could be a few things but I'll stop wondering how I can get one ordered if I can't even hope to get it repaired.
It's long been their policy that repairs come from the country/region even before all this debacle. The drone are locked down but their cameras do have international warranties. Like you (I believe you mentioned this) once upon a time I had a State Farm policy years ago but one claim later they sent me packing and I haven't tried since. If I were in the market for M4P and I could get $100 St. Farm no-deductible policy, I would gladly forgo DJI US warranty and [expensive] Care. Any idea on the StF statute of limitations? Because I have a feeling one day, we all may need to rely on Korean M4Ps. :)

This echos what I was told as well almost to the letter. What I wonder though is if we can get it insured anyway through another company? Some companies will still work on them even if DJI does not.

Highest price of the day so far, M4P RC2 combo from S. Korea US$6,080. Mark this price, if DJI says there will be no US launch, expect these prices to break $10k. Avg creator combo price is $5499.

Wow. Until the present admin along with their huge tariff-fiasco, dji was gearing up for shipment of Mavic 4's to the US. I cannot see how you can even begin to think what you are thinking unless of course drugs and brainwashing were involved.
Oh so funny.the drugs and brainwashing were from the other piece of garbage that was in there, the tariffs have nothing to do with what is going on,go do your research about it.Border and customs issues. But that would matter not to you.

Without Trump there would be no tariffs and the Mavic 4 Pro would be on the US market today at the normal price everyone else in the world is paying. Full stop.

my drones are insured by State Farm but only as long as I am using them recreationally. Having my Part 107 is not a problem but I can't use them commercially. They would not be able to fix a broken one of course and I don't know how much of a depreciation they would affix. It's' cheap but nothing I'd want to rely on...

Since mom taught me to never have a battle of wits with an unarmed person, I'll stop now.

Once it's repaired/replaced I'm going to get it added to my Skywatch ai coverage, I already carry $2 million with them for all of my production shoots anyway, I've just always relied on DJI Care Refresh for the actual drone itself outside of liability. I did have State Farm for home and auto but they refused to cover drones, I'm in CA FWIW.

To me, this is the biggest threat on Amazon unlike on eBay where you pretty much expect goods to be shipped by non-manufacturers
I completely agree! And yes, you're correct. The "DJI Store" link on the Mavic 4 product page is a ruse to make buyers think they are purchasing from DJI. Shame on Amazon for not policing this kind of activity.

in the end the reason I cancelled my order was DJI telling me they are not prepared to repair them in the U.S. and I would have to send it back to Korea for repair because they do not have the parts and ability to fix it in the U.S. A few weeks ago, I did a chat with DJI and they said just the opposite. They said it would have no warranty but they would repair it. Based on that I ordered. It might have been somebody at DJI that did not know or their policy changed. I also could not get clear on what tariff was going to be applied but the order did caution that the buyer would have to pay for whatever additional charges (tariff) might be applied which from what I could glean might be 25%. I'm retired and this is my "big" hobby. I've even thought about getting a second Mav3 Pro body...as backup to my Mav3 Pro and Mav 3 :).

In as many years as I’ve had DJI products, I’ve not found evidence anywhere that someone actually had the repaired product sent back to them. What happens to all those poor crashed drones is still a mystery to me. Truck loads somewhere I’m sure.

Totally understand your reasoning for this. I see two sides here, one is if there is an outright ban getting one will be even harder and the black/gray market will be in full swing at pretty outrageous prices. If we already have one we won't have to worry about it though.

The other is that I think we need to start thinking in terms of standard insurance and not DJI Care Refresh. Once my Mavic 4 Pro is repaired this is the route I'm taking, in fact I've already added it to Skywatch AI for $4K coverage. Then if something happens I'll just eat the cost of the deductible and buy a new drone if/where possible.

I use these professionally and as a result I can afford to buy newer drones to keep up with the times, plus I can write a lot of it off at the end of the year. I have no idea if/when this tariff stuff will go away so I'm just moving forward with a plan as if it's permanent.

They probably go to refurb which DJI is known to have excellent refurbs probably because they have the latest parts, they have good screening and a deep process (not just cosmetics), and as you mentioned, they likely make use of the repair returns. Not sure if they have someone do this for them or they refurb themselves but since I've started buying on the later cycle (+1 year after launch), I've also starting taking a hard look at refurbs.
