Hi Wacker,Braver than me (flying indoors that is) . Forecast for the rest of the week is much better from tomorrow. Unusually for me, apart from updating the firmware, I calibrated nothing, not even the compass. And it flies like a dream.

Seems that way at the moment. I'm calling Heliguy in morning and cancelling all. Combo, extra batts and bits.Never really trusted Heliguy as they take payment for preorders. Also, they specialise in drones so any handfuls if stock are probably going straight to their staff or being flogged on eBay for double.
Could say the same about other retailers but I smelt the bullsh*t when they banged on about being a tier 1 retailer.
The only retailer I can see who's being honest and actually sending decent amounts out are Maplin.
I just unboxed it, that gimbal is so fragile and the supports too. I will be hand catching it for sure. Landing that thing with this sensitive gimbal is risky.Indeed

Hi Wacker,
I calibrated everything and it flies like a dream. Why are you reticent to calibrate? After all the problems (failures?) of spinning out of control etc, I didn't want to expose anything to risk. Check the status of all the sensors in the app just to make sure all is calibrated correctly. Don't forget there are failsafe sensors that double up; you may be risking your Mavic unnecessarily if you've lost that double indemnity.
Might be worth still hanging in there mate. Even if it's the 19/12 you'll do pretty well to get one before Jan/Feb now if you go elsewhere.Seems that way at the moment. I'm calling Heliguy in morning and cancelling all. Combo, extra batts and bits.

Good to hear from someone with your experience. Not having flown such a sophisticated aircraft before, I am wary of all the reports that show Mavics flying out of control for no apparent reason, which prompted me to calibrate all sensors in fear of badly calibrated drones being the cause of these "mystery" crashes. From your reply it would appear I'm increasing my risk by introducing a poor calibration. Not reticent to calibrate, it's just totally unnecessary if, and only if everything checks out in the app. I've flown Phantoms for years now, and can probably count the amount of times I've calibarated IMU's/compasses etc on 2 hands. It's just totally unnecessary, unless you're miles away from your usual flight location, in which case it may be an idea to calibrate the compass. Having said that, I must admit it was unusual for me not to calibrate the compass seeing as it's come all the way from China, but the mod values on mine are well within acceptable levels. Calibrating all the time just increases the risk of a bad one. Just my opinion.

Ok, I understand the foolishness of flying indoors especially with no previous experience. So glad to hear it wasn't you!He tried to fly it indoors!
I'm still waiting, should have said not my video.
To be fair Andy they haven't got a clue and I'm busy over Christmas and new year with moving to Canada from UK... Drones are taking a back seat.... eBay time for inspire 1 and Osmo... Not investing any more time and energy in DJI... When the Mavic 2 appears in April [emoji6] I may reconsider but even then the way this whole pre order BS has gone is a joke. Whether it's DJI or Heliguy at fault who knows.Might be worth still hanging in there mate. Even if it's the 19/12 you'll do pretty well to get one before Jan/Feb now if you go elsewhere.
Maplin did say they had a few preorder places for the 28th today though so you might get in with them if you're quick... they did say that two large shipments are due but not confirmed yet.
Given my new faulty mavic i am keeping all my options open and have requested a replacement mavic from Selfridges (they are obliged to offer me a replacement as mine is faulty).
They are going to call me as soon as they know about stock, and will put one aside.
I just need to see who is going to come good first - either DJI with a shipping label (still a good option) or Selfridges with a new drone to swap with.
Either way i ought to find out when they have stock fairly quickly and will be sure to let you lot know if i hear anything.
Selfridges just now told me they had only had one delivery of mavics so far, which doesn't quite ring true with what Spocks post said, as they were out of stock on Thursday lunch, and were not reserving stock. Don't know how they had a'cancelled order'. Well done you, though, for your perseverance!

This is one reason - as well as the cost - that I've not bought off Ebay. Many of them say "Unopened and never flown" - which is great but they have no idea if they actually work. And most of the auctions say they don't accept returns! So its taking a big risk - you could end up with a £2,400 door stop! Not sure if DJI would let you return to them?
