When the Mavic pros batteries decharge themselves after 10 days, do they damage themselves in the process?

The actual discharge will not do damage BUT WHAT MIGHT do damage is leaving them charged (fully?) for 10 days. Where possible I set the delay for between 1 and 3 days

Not trying to disagree with ya Philius I’ve always set mine for the
most days and have Never had any issues with my battery’s.
ymmv
What I have found is even though I have mine set for 10 they never
are at 100% in 10 days. ?‍♂️
They seem to lose some % if I let them sit in my case if I can’t fly everyday because of weather or whatever.
edit..the only ones that seem to hold a charge in my Mini.

No problem, it's just that all I remember reading says that sitting fully charged is not good for them.
I’ve read so much on it over the years I’ve seen lots said. Honestly I can say I've never had any issues and might be just lucky. I’ve only had one battery go bad and dropped 30% to 0 real quick and it dropped about 40’ but was a defected battery and DJI gave me another but it was a P3.

Over discharge
Unlikely that the self discharge would do that, if it does some software engineer has mucked up.

Have you read the page 28 of the manual ?

BUT letting them sit at too low a charge for long is detrimental and if they get really low the control board may switch something to open circuit. It may then be impossible, without specific equipment and software, to switch it on again.
If that happens you likely have a brick.

After 4-1/2 year of flying the M1P, and with the original 3 flymore batts, and 3 others, I decided to check batteries the other day, recheck all settings like discharge days, cell balances, etc.
Also did this after flight.

Was cool to see all within 0.01v to 0.02v of each other, which I think is ok.

Never had any swelling, check for this regularly before flying and after flights.
At least the M1P batteries have that little recessed section on the back of the battery to allow for some expansion, and not pop batteries off !!

I noticed my days to discharge option (which USED to be 1 - 10 days) is now limited to 1 - 5 days, so I reset all mine to 5 days.
I think some DJI drone models just have set days, might have been 10 days for some.

I think one update changed some from 10 to 5 but might be mistaken. And that wouldn’t be nothing unusual.?

What bothers me about DJI it seems every drone has a different logic to it. You would think the batteries would work pretty much the same being smart batteries. The last update my air 2s got it extended the time. Something I am not a fan of.

Overview:
Date: 2021.07.27
Aircraft Firmware: V02.04.2040
Remote Controller: V04.12.0046
DJI Fly App iOS: V1.4.8
DJI Fly App Android: V1.4.8

What’s New?
  • Added trimmed download to DJI Fly.
  • Added ability to synchronize HD photos.
  • Extended time before battery enters auto-discharge after being idle from five to nine days.

I agree with you dirkclod, and follow a similar pattern - set them for ten days to discharge (and get more flying before the ten days have elapsed). My three batteries are still OK after 3 years, only very slightly puffed, but with 2 safety rubber bands in case the release ever lets go. Works for me - Have done hundreds of flights!
