Mavic Pro Sport Mode at distance

So I noticed something while testing distance in sport mode and wanted to see if anyone had the same happening. Once I got up to a good altitude, I switch to sport mode and went full throttle forward, which started out very quick and was humming along at a very nice pace. However, as it got further away, I noticed the speed started dropping down to what it would be in regular mode.

So my question is this: Does the speed in sport mode reduce as the drone move further and further away from the controller?

Most likely the wind conditions changed, or you changed direction so you faced the wind.
