Mavic2 Battery Mods

Bean, have you tried put the same amonunt of weight on your other M2 to see if you get the forced landing?
OK, tried hover tests on a different M2:

1808g auto land in ~5 sec
1709g auto land in ~30 sec
1606g auto land in ~60 sec
1555g auto land in ~90 sec
1529g auto land did not kick in during 5 min hover test.

I am even more perplexed now

After many measurements, the factory M2 battery cells have the most mAh per gram than ANY other battery I could find. I busted open 3 factory units and prepped these for my unlimited class flight. The AUW with 3 factory cells plus 1 sunhans booster/amp came in at 1479 grams and over 100 grams lighter than any other battery combo I could find. I hope to fly this as soon as the rain stops :)

Electronics would prevent that. The battery essentially has an on-board balanced charger. The so called charger is just a power supply.

Nice work Bean, I think that should get you to the hard limit. Hopefully soon you’ll get some good weather[emoji106]

I wouldn't do that. The battery electronics steps down the voltage and properly modulates it (and the current) for properly charging the battery. It needs a slightly higher input voltage to operate the electronics.
That voltage on the sticker is not the chargeing voltage on the batteries themselves.

Mavic 2 dual battery. Allow 43mins hovering time and 38mins flight time(14m/s). No need modification of drone body. Just plug and play of dual battery. Charge with DJI original charger. No need battery fasten belt. Long range test upto 16km=52493ft.View attachment 52266View attachment 52268View attachment 52269View attachment 52270View attachment 52271View attachment 52272View attachment 52273
Very cool!

Can you share some internal pictures of how you wired it up and the cad file?

Dang for someone like me scared to open the drone(rc im fine with) this looks like an amazing alternative. Just if i messed up its a 270 dollar mistake. I would totally buy one of those if it was fully built.

I guess I wasn't paying attention and just now noticed the M2 factory battery can be over charged. Sweet!
The batteries on the M2 arent being "overcharged" to 17.6V. They use a different variant of LiHV batteries that allow 4.4v/cell. They first started using them on the Mavic Air which uses a 3S/13.2V battery. I believe its using Lithium Cobalt Oxide chemistry. Essentially its as you say, most energy density for its weight. 3850mAh @ 17.6v. Any lower voltage will simply result in less current being stored in the battery, it wont harm the battery, you just wont get the full potential. Samsung also use 4.4v cells in their smartphones for a little while now.

The mavic 2 dual battery is came from a drone MOD store in China. He sell dual battery and antenna mod. In China you can buy original DJI battery component to replace your old battery. Since DJI battery are most power density. The price of mavic 2 battery he sell ~US$200. Not include shipping. Battery is brand new. Original circuit broad. Zero cycle. Dual battery quite suitable for those people afraid of disassemble their drone but require longer flight time. But I still interest to DIY by myself ! ☺mmexport1535789565730.jpgIMG_20181105_114151_959.JPGmmexport1541385563856.jpgIMG_20181105_122037_116.JPGIMG_20181105_122021_355.JPGIMG_20181105_121951_044.JPGIMG_20181105_121920_174.JPG

***PLEASE***PLEASE***PLEASE***

:) :) :)

Can you please share a link to where we can buy this before it disappears?

Like others have already said, being able to order it assembled and ready to fly would be amazing.

I would probably order a few of them if they were ready to go.

Hey beanbubba, Did you figure this out? I just strapped on two MS 4000's and after about 30 seconds I got a forced landing as well. AUW was 1583 and I'm using all the latest firmware. It must be the firmware!

No, I don't have a good plan to move forward. And after many more tests, there is no consistency when it decides to auto-land. Lolo said he is going to take a look at it soon, let's see if obi-wan-lolo can figure something out...

For the record, this was the last heavy flight I had that had zero issues and was right at 1600 grams with dual thunder power 4500's. This flight was on the first firmware version and I would agree that it appears the firmware update is causing the heavy weight auto landing.
