Mini 5 Pro is Broadcasting RID with ALL Batteries, Including the Mini 5 Pro Standard Battery

For reference, here are a couple of the AliExpress listings for batteries that seem uncomfortably low priced:

Yeah, but that's straight from DJI. With prices this low, a reseller isn't making much if anything on the sale, especially if tariffs/import fees are covered as claimed, even with a $10 shipping free.
Awesome, I might try one of those.

Why does it broadcast RID?? I fly at a club with the plus battery at clubs you dont need RID! So it comes on auto now with plus batts! HOW STUPID!!!
I believe the Plus battery has *always* triggered RID in the Mini drones since the Mini 3 Pro. If you use the Plus battery in the US, you will need to broadcast, for sure.

Well, give them credit for the "no original" honesty at least. The two I noted above both are marked "original", for whatever that is worth.
So, I'm going to pass. Not getting a good enough feeling for these or the other ones, Ali has always given me the creeps anyway. Back to eBay....

I know it's a little blurry but the label appears to be a 100% copy of the DJI label.....

Is that from one marked original or "not original"? In any case, they probably just grabbed an image of a real battery to use for their listing. Note the one that said not original doesn't have a delivery date until sometime in DECEMBER, which suggests they don't even actually exist yet. What might be a bit telling would be the battery serial numbers, if enough were known about how they are sequenced. For example, sometimes with counterfeit goods, all the serial numbers on every unit are the same, since they don't want to bother with changing them.

It might be useful for anyone on this thread who does get a battery not directly from DJI post info about the results and links they used for the purchase, for the benefit/warning of other readers!

TBH I am not that fussed whether it does or doesn't broadcast RID, but it's totally understandable why they'd make it do so if they can't guarantee all units will be <250g.

Right.

Because if they labeled it as under 250 grams and it turned out to be 251 grams, the US government might get mad.

Can't have that!

The U.S. government is trying to kill DJI for political reasons. One can't reasonably blame DJI for taking this approach, especially for a product they are not even marketing or officially selling in the U.S.

Specifically, where is that information coming from?
“Technically, the Mini 5 Pro can use batteries from previous drones, but we do not recommend it”

Attributed to DJI spokesperson Daisy Kong, in an article posted on The Verge a month ago. (Source)

That was main reason I bought this was because I thought standard M5P battery would not need RID or reg!😡 Dont need bad acters trying to beam it out of the sky by using drone tracker app because RID is on.
