Hi, i'm new to this forum and drones in general. I have mucked around with cheap ones in the past, and thought about getting a good one, but never pulled the trigger. I am thinking of spending about $1000 - 1200 NZD. I am wondering which drones you would recommend, and any accessories ( fly more combo etc) i should get. Also wondering if anyone has used their drone for reasonably close up game photography without scaring the animals, or if there are any props i could buy to make it quieter so the animals aren't scared off, as i am quite a keen hunter.

Cheers from New Zealand.

Sounds more like you want to spot game then go hunt it. I know in the US using a drone in any fashion of hunting is a no no and getting close to wild animals also a no no. not sure about NZ but I'd check your laws before harassing the wild life. as far as a drone look at the Mavic zoom it would best for photographing game from a distance .

Well, i go hunting on private land that my family owns, that is about 450 acres in size. My goal is not to spot and shoot, just to take video of the animals that we have on our property, and also of the landscape surrounding it. I don't think there are any laws surrounding flying drones around animals on your own land. I'll look into the mavic zoom, thanks.

There is no chance animals are not going to know a drone is near. I suspect most (all?) will be scared off if your drone is close enough to capture decent footage/photos.

IMG_0073.JPGthey hear it but that’s about it, they go about their business. Just don’t push it and do not chase if they spook. Deer that I film are now use to it.

In that price range. A Mavic 2 Zoom would be your best bet for being able to get close enough to wild life, although the Mavic 2 Pro will give you better picture quality overall. I would also look at a Fly More Kit, strongly consider the Refresh warranty, and possibly a hard case for transporting the drone.
