I was gonna ask the same question. Also what's the situation if I decide I don't want it.

All it does is prevent the known hacks from working and ever going back to a version that they work on.

If it's like the FPV then if your app connects to the internet and learns about that update existing it'll force update and prevent you from taking off without applying it, so stay offline if that matters to you.
