I’ve purchased my first drone, the Mavic Mini, on the recommendation of a friend so I’ve yet to fly one. It’s pretty clear that the “go low and slow” approach is safest! A lot of time needed in some open spaces! Still, the DJI Care “insurance” looks attractive! My first technical question, though .... do people usually get a small tablet or other device for dedicated use or do they use their smartphone?

I don’t mind relying on automation as long as I understand exactly how it does what it’s doing! So much to learn!!!

Welcome to MavicPilots from Dayton Ohio! Enjoy your new Mavic Mini. For the Mavic Mini you could get away with just using your cell phone as long as you have a relatively new one. Otherwise a iPad Mini 4 or newer works really well with it. Fly safe and have fun!

I love using my Apple iPad 9.5 inch screen. Rarely, if ever, do I use my iPhone XS Max.It needs a holder like a Skyreat. available on Amazon.
