I have been building and flying multi rotors for years but now just fly sub 250gm stuff to avoid the complications of flying bigger heavier ones. I also fly fixed wing and have done it the same way. Everything I fly now is sub 250gm.
I’m currently building a C/F frame tricopter for just messing around with and just flying it for fun; they’re OK to fly if it’s a bit windy.
Basically I am a bit out of date with what’s happening in the self build world and what options there are now to keep below 250gm. It’s more in terms of Motors, ESCs and Flight controllers than anything else. The other thing I’m interested in is places not too far away from where I live - Halesowen (West Mids) that can safely be used to fly in.
I’m retired so have time on my hands which makes things easier sometimes but having a limited budget can get to be a pain!
