Newbie from Northern Ontario Canada

would like to try some pet rescue in my area.
Here is the USA you may only fly for fun with the basic certification (which is free on-line). If you lived here and your neighbor/friend/family member/ etc… asked you to use your drone to look for their lost pet, you would have to turn them down (legally speaking…).

To do what you are suggesting here, you would be required to acquire a Part 107 Certification for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The certification requires passing a 60-question exam that cost $175 US to take…

Make sure Canada does not have similar rules or laws that prevent you from performing the S&R Pet Rescuing.

Nothing worse than trying to do a good deed and getting burned in the process. Like they say, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished…"

Yes Thank you for the heads up. In Canada we need to have a drone license if the drone weighs more than 250 grams. We also have to register our drones on the transport canada website. There is no stipulation on whether you are compensated for flying your drone. So you can have a photography or other drone business with no extra license for now. For the basic license it is a 35 question exam and costs $10 to write.
