Ok, so twice (both at dusk) my OA seems to "malfunction." Controller shows "Obstacle" and drone brakes to a stop. App shows "braking now return sticks to center position" but the OA grid/chart doesn't show on screen.

I think I will just turn off OA when flying at this time of day.

How do I make sure OA doesn't turn on during RTH there seems to be lots of settings with poor descriptions. I think it is the smart RTH, but will this change any other behavior?

Included us a picture of what caused the OA to kick in. I have never so much as jostled my MP and the sensors are free from stickers and obstructions.

Thanks,

To disable OA for RTH, go to your Visual Navigation Settings->Advanced Settings and disable RTH Obstacle Check.

According to the documentation however, the RTH OA system only activates if the lighting is sufficient.

Either that or when flying into the sun just flick your sports mode switch up to sports...disables OA and you are good to go. Be aware that you can almost halve your airborne time transiting in sports mode.

I'm worried about Failsafe RTH, no way to disable once signal is lost. Want to make sure it doesn't try to reach the moon.

Thanks

Not sure I am with you here.....so if the RC loses connection with Mavic then it climbs to your predetermined RTH altitude and flies home. So long as your altitude is higher than obstacles in the RTH flight path, what's the problem with being in sports mode?

Mind you I have not tried using RTH in sports mode....maybe someone else can comment?

If I'm not in sports mode...and it drops connection. During RTH it senses an obstacle that doesn't exist and tries to rise above it. It gets to high and battery drains forcing critical battery land. Doesn't have enough juice left and drops like a rock before reaching the ground safely.
