Overheating vs NITS

I use the Feelworld LUT11 (mounted to a tripod) which is rated at 2000 nits. In the desert sun, the glossy screen face leaves a bit to be desired I'm afraid (sunhood is still a requirement imo). I do like that it's simply a monitor and doesn't have the tablet fluff, but that's personal preference. It also uses regular sony 970 camera batteries which are fairly inexpensive. I have yet to have it dim or turn off, even in 100+ degree heat in Arizona.

If you are not encountering wind, I might suggest mounting a large black umbrella over the tripod mounted monitor, This will keep things a little cooler for the viewer of the screen and for the unit itself plus the black area helps to reduce reflections on the screen. You could always get a low cost large golf umbrella and paint the inside black with fabric paint, if you can't find a black model umbrella.

Keep in mind that the ideal luminance for outdoor viewing is believed to be 2500 nits per the experts in the display industry. Getting to that with a larger screen also comes with considerable extra weight due to th4e extra batteries to support the size and brightness. You can mount it on a lanyard like I did with my TripleTek, but it will always feel top heavy. These days I have learned to use my iPhone 15Pro and rarely use the brighter table that I bought. If needed I try to stand in the shade.
