Part 101 or Part 107

This question is for someone who has a Remote Pilot Certificate. How easy is the semi automated process to contact ATC to clear a flight compared to having to contact each of the towers/managers around you. I live by a Class D airport along with 4 heliports. If it simplified being able to fly near my house, I would consider studying for and taking the test.

I'm thinking you probably have your answer by now but, it's not really easy, at least right now, to get airspace authorization. It takes a long time and a lot of details, and must be done well in advance. Apparently they are working on simplifying this as I speak.

For a commercial operation, wanting to do ongoing work, you can get it for an extended time period, therefore if you have enough lead time its worth the hassle.

That said, if you are in class g airspace, as part 107, you do not need any authorization whatsoever, so this is where it will help you out.
