Can anyone who has joined AOPA share their thoughts as to the value of becoming a member as a drone pilot?

AOPA is a great organization for airplane pilots--I have a lifetime membership. To be honest, I don't see any value to a drone only pilot. The "free" listing you reference above makes me laugh. That service is already free to sign up.

I think AOPA will probably get more into this space as time goes on.

I think they are publishing weekly drone vlogs now.

They are publishing that, they often have a lot of good info on their weekly news letter. I have been an AOPA Command Pilot member for many years and it is a good organization for pilots but I can't speak for drones. Though they are always looking at the next good money maker for themselves and should be digging into lots of drone info, plus they will be a strong lobbyist as when the need arises, assuming it won't conflict with their pilot member base.
