Received the Pgytech connector this week, very impressive clips on the Mavic 2. Will mainly be for a tracking device with Mavic 2 Pro, for now at least maybe another attachment in the future. It does include a small screw that attaches to a camera, light or other devices. I removed the screw and used double-sided tape to hold the tracking device, that too is plenty secured.

Attaches to a Bebop 2, that’s great can now snap off M2P and easily fasten to my bebop 2 with rubber bands sliding over the ends fastening to the rear arms.

Found rather than snap off by hand when removing from M2P, just slightly close one the front M2P arms the connector will quickly and safely snap off on it’s own. This is probably the best and safest approach to remove from M2P, Kind of feels if I continue to remove with pressing the side tabs one of the tabs will eventually break off? Maybe not, but with a slight closing of a front arm it quickly and safely snaps off that works for me.

Looks neat too,

I also have the PGYTECH Camera Adapter. I use it for all kinds of things as well, I've attached the GoPro 7 Black to it. I have a strobe mount that I've designed for it with 2 or 4 strobes (don't have the photography for it done yet but it will be available soon). It is a very well designed adapter.

Does the Trackimo or Camera interfere with the M2 sensors if attached on top?

Thank you so much Aerial-Pixel for sharing your experience with the mounting bracket, and comparison between both cameras, very professional well planned video.

I ordered another this morning, as good as these are and the low price won’t hurt having a backup. Can see using this for both commercial and personal use, and it’s so light snaps on no Bucky mounting hardware.

Thanks again,
Paul

Anytime. I've ordered a couple as well, I left one at a job site accidentally :(

I've used it a few times with the GoPro 7 Black with no issues. Also I don't have any issues flying with my strobe mount and 4 strobes attached to the PGYTECH camera adapter.

That's the one I got too. I've flown a few times with the Samsung Gear 360 (2017 version) on it without issue... Well, the only issue was that the gyro in the Gear 360 got completely flipped upside down after an aggressive braking maneuver so it was quite disturbing to view the 360 footage afterward!

I watched the vid but what are the benefits of taking a GoPro Hero 7 Black up into the air? It doesn’t have the benefit of the gimbal and the footage is of wherever the drone is tilting.

It's excellent for bridge inspections, or anything you need to film directly above.

I had been thinking it would’ve been a good idea to get a time lapse done with the gopro but didn’t realise that it’s angle would shift every time you manoeuvre the Mavic.

I’m a casual user - photos, videos and hyperlapses. Bridge inspections is something I’ll never do. Any other good uses for an airborne GoPro on top of a Mavic 2?

In my opinion no. NDVI cameras and Thermal cameras are another good use for that mount.

i was actually just looking at this to use it for a light mount. is this the best one available that would fit on the mavic 2 or are there better ones?
ideally i need a flash, but, i bet there is nothing at all out there that would be synced with a mavic taking photos, so, a constant light like one below would probably be the only option, right?

I haven't flown my M2P or M2ED with a Lume Cube yet. Just be careful metal objects on top tend to degrade the satellite reception. When I flew with the GoPro it was fine but when I mounted the OSMO Pocket the number of satellites acquired was cut in half of what I normally get.

huh, it is good to know. i will try to test it later. is gps puck located right above the gimbal assembly on mavic 2?

It is actually located directly under the PGYTECH mount:

I tried this Pgytech connector with my Gopro Hero 9 but too much shaking on gopro's video ... any ideas?

I use this mount, but not for regular purposes. I use it to mount various sensors to the drone. I had made one that I used which attaches to this mount, but it was too short. When you mount an iPhone on the drone, it blocks the antenna and you lose GPS. So I modified it to use with an iPhone 6 and a FLIR sensor. Rather nice setup, since the iPhone transmits the FLIR signal to your Apple Watch. I also use it for my iPhone enabled geiger counter and my UV sources to a UV enabled camera.

I make a lot of items out of ABS plastic. It is easy to work and rather cheap. For this application I used .25" thick material. I have a rather irrational amount of this material lying around. I needed some for one of the aircraft projects and the minimum purchase from my supplier is a 4'x8' piece. It is absurdly cheap, so not a real issue. You just end up with a lifetime supply.

I cut it, drill several ½" holes to lighten the material (it is plenty stiff) and tap it for ¼ x 28 thread, same as the tripod post thread. I also used two very small screws either side, just to keep the assembly from rotating. On the lower side, I bought an extra camera mount fairing, they are cheap as well. Mounted a tapered block and some velcro. The iPhone, I use a really cheap (since it can get flung off to be eternally lost) 6s. They are down to under $50 if your patient. To connect the sensor, I use a Lighting cable extender, a short one. There is a small clip mounted with tenacious double back foam tape. This keeps the cable from interacting poorly with the propellers. A quick spray with some plastic compatible spray paint and it nearly matches. The small foam wedge is to keep tension on the mount so it does not vibrate. The camera is mounted with Velcro as well and for security I also wrap a rubber band around the mount and phone. You can still access the on/off switch on the battery through one of the holes, cleverly placed to be directly on to of the switch.

In my field there are a whole slew of devices that use the iPhone as the computer and display. Some work fine on the drone. So why not an Enterprise Drone. Too expensive and the resolution on the camera is virtually worthless. I wish the top shell portion could be had for nearly as cheap as the regular ones, I would appreciate the mount. I may try some Timecerts to see if they hold on the regular shell and I could do away with the PGYTECH mount.
