Last time I looked: DJI had a seat at the table in the CAA's UAV Regulatory Sandbox, along with Airbus, Airmap, Altitude Angel, Bluebear Systems Research, Collins Aerospace, Google's Wing, Thales and Unifly.DJI, just the same now as they were in 2017. And they wonder why big government doesn’t trust them.
If you're interested: every single seat on the 'advisory' board is occupied by a commercial entity - most of them developing autonomous UAV's for "...Defense, surveillance, security and commercial delivery systems...". There is absolutely no representation for independent operators (small business or otherwise).
Regardless of the 1970's name change, the CAA is still the Air Ministry... part and parcel of 'Big(ish) Government'.
