Question about RID on my Mini 5 Pro

DJI, just the same now as they were in 2017. And they wonder why big government doesn’t trust them.
Last time I looked: DJI had a seat at the table in the CAA's UAV Regulatory Sandbox, along with Airbus, Airmap, Altitude Angel, Bluebear Systems Research, Collins Aerospace, Google's Wing, Thales and Unifly.

If you're interested: every single seat on the 'advisory' board is occupied by a commercial entity - most of them developing autonomous UAV's for "...Defense, surveillance, security and commercial delivery systems...". There is absolutely no representation for independent operators (small business or otherwise).

Regardless of the 1970's name change, the CAA is still the Air Ministry... part and parcel of 'Big(ish) Government'.

Enabling auto updates is definitely a bad idea, and could explain a change if the default was on, but this was reported to have taken place without any FW update, including any auto updates, which would have been apparent had the FW version number changed.

My guess is that your FW version is the one before the Trojan Horse version that had the date trigger in it.

The update model is definitely another possibility, which should also be kept off. Maybe that is the hidden way of making RC changes that then are written to the aircraft model, especially because no one is keeping track of that version number, as it is a new little understood auto updates option.

What version numbers do you have installed for the FW and Update Model?
FLY app: 1.19.4 (android)
aircraft f/w: 01.00.0900
remote f/w: 04.14.0700
App/acr. Static Safety Data: 01.00.01.39

Slight case of crossed wires. I thought the thread was concerning new max. alt. regulation in Europe & the UK. I run a mini 3 pro - the drone and controller versions are for that. But the app version and the SSD should apply to all drones.

Specific to the UK (and the EU States) the 120m hard cap seems to have become mandatory as of 01.01.26. The mini 5 pro wont be the only mini drone affected.

It's more about how the height restrictions were surreptitiously imposed January 1 upon the Mini 5 Pro without any new updates needed.

The Mini 5 Pro, being a relatively new drone, has several recent updates, giving DJI opportunities to install future date based changes, while the Mini 3 Pro is an older, mature drone where any new FW would be viewed as suspicious and unneeded, and was even manufactured before mandatory RID.

My Mini 3 Pro is actually still on the FW version before RID was imposed upon it, regardless of which battery was used, so it would be hard for DJI to force any changes on it, as I never update it either.

My attitude is straightforward. Give me a set of rules and regulations and I'll choose to abide by them.

What I really don't like is for some bureaucratic arsehole to decide that free choice is something I'm not responsible enough to exercise.

I had the same problem with the DJI Geozones, which is why all my birds got the Drone-Hacks treatment... Even with the ability to climb to crazy heights and to fly anywhere: I chose not to and chose to abide by the regulations and restrictions... because I'm a responsible adult.
