That's one hell of a corner to cut, especially given that a lot of us use phones with maps and such, which to some extent should at least tell us which direction we're facing.
I absolutely agree but I really cannot complain. My cell phone service is through Tracfone. A One-Year service card (365 days of service, 1,500 minutes of talk, 1,500 text messages, and 1.5 GB Data) cost about $120. QVC and HSN both offer various Tracfone Specials. The Specials includes a Tracfone Smartphone (Various Makes and Models at various times…) and a One-Year of Service with the aforementioned items for $49 to $59 total price (free shipping…).
About 6-months ago, their Special was the Galaxy AO2s with a One-Year Service Contract for $59.00. I bought two (one for me and one for the wife).
We've been using the Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro and the LG L322DL Journey (both QVC and HSN specials from years past) as both have all the necessary hardware (sensors) that I want (demand) in a smart phone: an Accelerometer (for Orientation and Positioning), a Gyroscope (to Measure and Maintain Orientation and Angular Velocity), and a Magnetometer Sensor (to establish its Compass Orientation), so I can run a Compass App for hiking (especially in heavily treed forest…
The J7 Sky Pro and the LG Journey both have only 16 GB of storage and it limits the various maps I down load so I'm not burning up the limited Data running live updates.
I had high hopes for the AO2s because it had a faster processor and 32 GB Storage, but as you know, it does not have a Magnetometer Sensor. Since we did not activate them, we added the Service Card to our other phones.
So now, my wife's AO2s is sitting in a kitchen draw in the event of an emergency and mine is sitting next to the TV remote. I use it for WiFi only and run the Roku App so I have an actual typeable keyboard for searches and I get Blue Tooth connectivity to the Roku for my earbuds…
Over the years, many of the sub-standard QVC/HSN Tracfones have found their way to our grandkids…
