Has anyone successfully purchased a DJI RC Pro 2 controller in the US recently? I've seen posts about getting them from China and Korea with import fees included. Also, I don't live too far from the Canadian border. Has anyone purchased one up there and brought it across the border? What is the cost to do it legit? What are the risks of smuggling it?

I know there will be no warranty, but if it works as well as all my other DJI gear, that will not be an issue.

I know B&H and Adorama are offering it on preorder, but is there any indication that they'll ever get them?

RC Pro 2 is still in short supply everywhere because they are needed for the Creator Combos. I doubt you can even find one in stock anywhere in Canada.
Best way to get one legally is to order the Creator Combo from Adorama. That's how everyone else here has gotten one, complete with DJI warranty.

Risks of smuggling are forfeiture of the goods and penalties up to twice the value of the goods, as well as revocation of Global Entry, if you have it. Best to declare it, if you manage to find one for sale in Canada. Customs fees/tariffs appear at present to be 55% of the Canadian price, based upon one Canadian DJI dealer's US delivery surcharges for a Creator Combo pre-order. If the Canadian Dealer isn't billing you for Customs Fees separately from your purchase price, expect a big bill from the shipper to cover them upon delivery to you.

I am a Canadian and thought about how to get your drone and accessories across the boarder. In the case of the controller pack up your camera bag and leave some space for the controller, you will have to leave the packaging in Canada especially the DJI box it was shipped in. As long as your camera or drone case and contents look used I don't think your going to have an issue. There is a US check point before you can enter Canada but It isn not clear to me what that is all about and I have not seen any news about issues at this check point. You will have to register your controller when you get back on the American side of the border as you will be blocked by DJI as your location is Canada.

I have one ordered from a top rated seller from China on eBay. They offer 30 day money back returns.

pardon me but if you don't like the item, how do you expect to ship it back to china to get a refund; isn't that a bit risky?

eBay provides you with a return shipping label at no cost. Most of the time it is UPS.

eBay acts as the 3rd party to make sure that you get what you pay for and that they get their cut from the seller. I have sold stuff to idiots with no DJI account that didn’t know how to set up a drone and had to give them their money back and pay for shipping. I have also gotten my money back from being sold defective stuff. It works both ways. Member for over 25 years with over 400 transactions 100% positive reviews. Not many can say that.

Ordered July 1—delivery on July 15 but USPS had it sitting at a distribution center 60 miles from my house since the 11th so it could have been here sooner. Set up and working perfectly.

Were the import fees included? I have noticed several venders imply this. What was your total cost? I have been really tempted to order one but afraid of getting hit with import fees. Which vender did you get it from?

I believe paired is ok but connected is not ok. If you turn ON the drone and turn ON the controller and those are the only two turned ON and you put them both in pair mode, they should detect and the drone model should be added to the Drone Management section and you're all set.

You must update to the latest firmware. When I checked my Air 3 S Saturday ( in expectation of delivery that day) it said I was up to date. Last night it would not pair. I got out the other controller and what do you know???? A new update was available. After the update it paired perfectly.

Bought mine off of eBay also from airwalker. Looks to be a business that sells DJI products with a 99% positive rating. I paid $1200 and $88 sales tax and paid with PayPal. I am not promoting, endorsing, encouraging, or suggesting anything. Just telling my story.

The RC Pro 2 the best part of the Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo experience, able to now be shared with both the Air 3S and the Mini 4 Pro. The Simulator on the RC Pro 2 also has many more venues to practice flying in than on the RC 2 because of the additional internal memory. Paired with the Mini 4 Pro with regular batteries, the set-up is also completely RID free for pilot privacy and safety, and requires no FAA registration. Cheaper than getting a CCP for self defense. Just need a Trust Certificate.
