Hello everyone. I'm a newly certified part 107 drone pilot who also has a private pilot cert and advanced instructor cert. I love my new Air 2s and, as stated above, just destroyed an Air 2 after I lost it on a mountain with tall trees during a real estate shoot. Anyone from Washington state?

Hello from the Crossroads of America CFI.

Sorry about your loss.

Trees and drones don't get along with each other.

Welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! :) Enjoy the forum!Thumbswayup

Hello from Minnesota and welcome to the Forum....To bad on your Mavic Air 2 but congratulations on your upgrade Air 2s....There's a lot of good quality teaching/feedback going on in here. Just ask, and the experts are great on providing good sound advice for you to apply and use... Remember to always Fly safe, Fly Smart and keep the drone in sight.

Welcome to the forum from the mountains of Colorado! Retired ATC and also love the PNW. I lived in Seattle for a few years a long time. Love the area! Happy and safe flying!

Thank you Mr Mod ! I'm not at all shy (much to the dismay of my wife sometimes) but I do feel a bit dumb about losing my first drone due to lack of attention. I was doing a real estate video of a beautiful home on open water with a huge snow-capped mountain in the background. I had the drone doing an auto-subject-arc over the deep blue/green bay and was watching the controller screen a bit too intently when my Air 2 slowly and quietly flew behind me. The problem is I didn't really pay attention to the 300' ninety degree mountain with the 100' trees on top directly behind me. I did get a good view on my phone of the drone crashing into dark limbs and heard it complain loudly as it fell about 100'. The "Find my drone" on the DJI app was of no help since I wasn't packing ropes and technical climbing gear (and am a bit too old for retrieving things off of cliff faces anyway). I learned a big lesson though -- always be aware of the WHOLE area ! lol

All that said, my love of drones has not been diminished by the mishap even a tiny bit !

Oh, and thank you all for the sympathy and warm welcomes !
