After a 5-1/2 week backorder my Smart Controller finally arrived today.

A couple of observations:

Yes, you really should charge it first.

Mine arrived with .0400 firmware, so had to update. Big surprise (not).

DO NOT update it to 1.00.0530 using just the controller...use DJI Assistant for Mavic 2 (latest version today is 2.08). The controller itself will tell you there’s an update available and if you select it, it will download and attempt to install the update but you really should use the assistant...the controller with actually tell you that in the release notes.

After updating you will not see the DJI Pilot app under Apps on the controller; you’ll only see the latest version of DJI GO 4.

Don’t be concerned - in the controller, go to ‘switch aircraft’ (swipe down on the screen and you’ll see it) and select a Mavic Enterprise (Zoom or Dual, whichever you have at hand). It will then ask you to pair the aircraft.

After you successfully pair the aircraft to the controller it will unzip some files and you will have DJI Pilot.
