I called State Farm yesterday. They have a no-deductible policy for drones. Here is how it went for me, as most State Farm reps might not know how to set it up.

The policy is called Personal Articles Policy, drones will be classified under the miscellaneous category. The cost for me was $75/year i was covered immediately. I had to send them my ebay invoice.

I found an agent from this page:

I've used State Farm Personal Articles Policy for three years now. Have no complaints. Never had a claim, though. All my other policies (home, auto, etc.) are with USAA. you don't have to be an established State Farm customer to get the Personal Articles Policy.

Caveat: My understanding is that it is for PERSONAL ARTICLES ONLY. If you have a Part 107 rating, you may not be eligible, so be sure to check before applying.

I'm a big fan of this State Farm policy for your drone as a suitable substitute to DJI Care Refresh for your most expensive DJI drones. Not only is the premium inexpensive but also the payout for a claim is usually based on your receipt. I was cancelled in 2020 for filing one claim (may or may not happen to everyone) and I think I'm going to try again after waiting 5 years and when I get my Mavic 4 Pro later this year. It's a great policy to have even if you have DJI Care Refresh.

This isn't available everywhere so don't be surprised if your agent can't do it for you but use the details above to help them out should they need further guidance.

I believe CA is the only excluded state for purchase purposes. Odd.

Let me know how you make out.. They won't insured me 5 years later.. One $1100 claim for in over 10 years. I pulled all my Policy's from them over this,.

I have had this insurance through State Farm for 5 years....luckily I have never had to make a claim.....If that time comes...we will see how it goes then.

Just to reiterate, the State Farm personal article policy for drone protection is for recreational flyers only. You cannot make a claim under Part 107. **edited** I should’ve said I’m looking into a commercial policy now, but they’re making me jump through all sorts of hoops in the underwriting process. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Massachusetts+Rhode Island too.I had a claim covered for a lost at sea drone 4 years ago.Didn't get canceled.Only insurance I have by State Farm.I've heard but can't confirm that a claim may affect your homeowner rate even though it's not insured by SF.

I had a State Farm rider on my camera equipment. When I filed a claim for a theft, they cancelled the policy. To be fair, they said it was because my camera pack was on the ground behind me when it was stolen, so I didn't have control of my property.

Has anyone tried to register their Adorama-purchased Mavic 4 Pro with DJI to have it covered under their warranty?
You don't need to register your drone with DJI, you only need to register with the government (in the US).

Your warranty goes into effect when you activate the drone.

HUH?So if it was in your hotel room it's covered because you locked the flimsy door?Insurance companies😩

I had State Farm on my regular camera gear for years. Then I bought a $10,000 lens and they dropped me saying no hobbyist would spend $10K on a lens and I had to be a pro..ga.
