After reading posts for a few weeks, on all sorts of subjects, I became convinced that the camera and gimbal were the most vulnerable parts of the Mavic, certainly when cost and availability of spares was taken into account. As a non-flyer (no previous experience) I have therefore sought to minimise the effect of any indiscretions on the camera / gimbal.
First, perhaps because it was easiest, came the gimbal protector.

The UK sourced version came today and I am really impressed with it. The material appears strong, it fits well, and viewed from the front I see it offering good protection to the gimbal.
It is also promoted as a sunshade, and although I haven't kept the link, I have seen posts on here by someone showing pictures with and without the shade / protector in place, with the positive benefits of the shade very clearly shown, even to my non-artistic eyes.
Fitting it reminded me of the need for lens protection, as the lens itself now shows itself very clearly as the most vulnerable aspect.
Like you, I found opportunities to buy, in the UK in my case, difficult to come by. I had already ordered the three coloured filters that DJI offer, so didn't need a five or six pack from TACO or Polar Pro.
After trying various 'drone specialists', who only sell what the drone manufacturer offers to them, and camera (photography) specialists who didn't know anything about small cameras such as these, I resorted to eBay (UK). In the end I found a
TACO-RC UV filter for Mavic (Use this phrase as a Search term) Item ID: 232183386764.
On eBay.com (US) this is
here.
Note that you MUST buy versions with the chamfered outer. Unless it is chamfered the gimbal will not initialise because the filter will foul on the gimbal arm.
If you don't have any filters at all, then a pack of 5 or 6, if it includes a clear or UV item, will be better value for money IF you think you will be using the Mavic as a flying camera, rather than a drone that happens to take pictures.
Using the Search term above will get you various purchase opportunities.
Unsure which make of filter to use? I found
this review reassuring.
