This is the way DJI intended you hand launch and land your Mavic 2.

Agreed. I do this both on land and from boats. I descent with the drone (left stick down) into my semi flat hand. The drone will detect my arm and after a second or so enters landing mode (forced landing according to the logs I've pulled) and gently descends straight into my outstretched hand. No fighting, just elegant as if it was meant to be =) This doesn't work however if you are not stationary (e.g. boat moving), then I just fly the drone above my hand going forward to match the speed of the boat, and I just grab it and pull the left stick all the way down for three seconds or so. It will fight me for those seconds, but I haven't found a better way to do it yet. Open to suggestions though!

I don't have the Mavic 1 anymore FoxhallGH so it looks like it doesn't work for that AC.
But for the Mavic 2 this method is 10 out of 10 times successful. Just sliding your hand, under a stationary Mavic 2 at teat level. Even better in tripod mode where it remains rock solid even in wind. This way I have total control over the AC.

Tried this with my Pro Platinum. Worked perfectly, and may I say, it’s the best method yet. Very stable way of landing.

it will rise about half a metre. I have to do the old method, which is to put a hand underneath, have it lower itself into my hand, grab tight to stop it rising again - then throttle stick to zero to stop.

What I did is while I’m sliding my hand under the drone, and my hand is in constant contact with the bottom, I simultaneously pull down on the stick. It’s not exactly what the mp2 does, but I feel more confident than having it descend down into my hand. I was surprised that Mavic did not rise up immediately. It’s definitely not perfect.
