I've got the latest M2P update (.022) and Go4 app update (4.3.9) but there is no check box available for precision landing after sliding the takeoff slider nor is there an 'enable precision take off' on/off toggle in the sensor section like the Mavic Pro has (& P4). Anyone know what the issue might be??

There is no setting to enable. Precision Landing is enabled by default.

Hmm, ok - how high and how long does it require before PL kicks in? The check box that the Mavic Pro& P4 has (when PL is first enabled) brings it up to the required altitude automatically when checked.

I have tested it a half dozen times this week and the PL adjustments happen right about ~25 feet in altitude during the landing.

So when it says the "HP must be recorded upon takeoff", does that mean that "set current aircraft position" in the Main Controller Settings needs to be selected each time before takeoff? I know that it automatically sets a home point when turning on the drone, but what if it's moved around a bit after turning on - such as doing compass calibration, etc.

It means the home point needs to be set before you take off. The home point will be auto set if the Mavic has a good GPS connection. Like usual, check the "H" symbol on the map in DJI GO to ensure it's marked and it's in the correct location.

I have always taken off, and risen vertically +/- 30 feet, and waited for a few seconds before ANY horizontal movement.
For me, 23+ feet straight up (at any speed) and no waiting before any horizontal movement has been working flawlessly.

I agree. Mine seems similar. Which makes it useless when I fly at home. 60’ trees on all sides and about a 12’ space to come down in. PL would land in the trees half the time.

Yes, I realize that, but my question was what happens if the M2 is moved say a few feet after turning it on to do compass calibration, etc. etc.. In other words, after it has 'recorded home point' initially upon turning on - if that ends up being the case, I've always gone in to the settings to set home point manually just to be safe, but maybe not necessary?

The home point does not auto set until the motors are started. If the home point is set and you move your Mavic, you can manually reset it.

Thanks, that answered my question! - didn't know the homepoint was initiated only on motor startup - thought it happened upon getting the drone powered up and synced with the controller & app, so no need to manually set the home point so long as calibration, moving landing pad around, etc.etc. is done prior to motor startup... good info!

Yes, but VERY hard to hear on the Crystalsky even with the volume cranked to 100%

I have the same problem with my CS, don’t hear the “home point has been activated” before I takeoff. I just check for the H on the map now. Yep my CS volume is turned up.

I notice that If I auto launch, the Mavic 2 Pro only ascends approximately 4 ft, where I hover for a while for the drone to warm up. I have had very accurate return to home landings for the most part. It sounds like you are suggesting that I should ascend to ~20ft — hover for a while — and then continue (like the original Mavic Pro does upon auto launch)?

Lift 4-6ft (1.5-2m) then hover until home point is recorded should be enough.
The precision part of the landing relies on a recorded image of the takeoff point (gps gets it close). The higher you go the more chance of a bit of drift so accuracy might be off a little.
It is important to take off from a recognizable, non-repeating pattern that the drone can recognize. A foldable takeoff/landing pad is ideal.

Don’t auto takeoff, manual takeoff then hover for a few seconds to make sure everything is ok with your drone, then you’re good to go.;) I ascend approx 20/30ft, lands within mm’s of its original spot every time for me;)

You would think that if precision landing is now built in (rather than having to intentionally select it as with the Mavic Pro & P4), then you would think that the 'new and improved Auto Takeoff' - as opposed to manual takeoff - would take this precision landing required ‘mapping’ into account, yes?
