Saw a flock of Wild American Turkeys out in the middle of my corn field about 2 hours ago and tried to capture them on my Mavic, which I take with me everywhere I go. They were about 1/3 mile away, light was almost gone, and it was very cold, but I got up in the air just in time to catch them some.
The turkeys definitely heard me coming. My Mavic was about 150' away from them when they first heard it and started to run for the safety of the woods. I tried backing off, but they still ran, so I made a beeline for them high enough to avoid the treeline - which ranges from about 35' up to more than 60' - and tried getting them from above. But they still heard and disappeared in the woods. Had to be careful coming down to better film them as the rotot sounds disturbed them.
Here is the video of what I was able to capture. I toyed with it a little to bring out the turkeys and scenery a little better.
