$49 Huawei Ascend XT2 aka Wunderphone = THE best Mavic screen EVER

I tried to turn on some home appliance by doing short press then long press and waiting for the startup chime the other day. Does that count? :D
I don't think so. It's when your wife finds your car keys in the refrigerator that you have to start worrying.

You got your wunderphone?
Yep. Don't have a Mavic yet though. It's for Christmas. This is my first Android too. Probably should have bought two, and almost did. I see Walmart has it for $89 this morning, but I think I'll wait until I try the WP for flying and then decide.
My first computer was an Apple IIE. Then a 286 "IBM compatible" and DOS. I'm a CNC programmer, but for most other computer stuff I'm a self-taught hack. I hated Windows 8 so much that I switched to a MacBook, which I like a lot. But what drives me crazy about Apple stuff now is that in an effort to dumb things down so you don't have to know what a file is or how folder structure works, they have made it so much more difficult for me to use. I spend a lot of time muttering "I don't care about albums or projects or collections or any of that crap, just show me where the bleeping file is!" With that mindset, do you think I'll be happier with Android?

Absolutely. ESPECIALLY with Huawei EMUI, it's so simple and elegant.

Unlike with ios, you can just browse files on internal storage or SD card, attach a hard drive to it directly with an OTG cable and do many many powerful things. ios is like a communist state with an iron curtain, they think there's nothing better and sing hallelujah to their Emperor. Rejoice, you're free now...

Yeah, I fully expect Tim Cook at my doorstep anytime now... with a SWAT team. :D

But seriously, anyone should try different things in their life. No commitment required. Get an inexpensive Android device, skip syncing your contacts/photos/whatnot from the clouds, just play with it, make a throw-away gmail account, login to Play Store with it, download some apps. Explore UI, there should be no corner you haven't explored.

You may be surprised how good it is!

I just got this case from Amazon today for my Wunderphone (it's compatible with both the Huawei Ascend XT and the Huawei Elate). It's a nice case for $7.

Here's what I like about it:
  • It fits the phone like a glove (all ports and buttons are accessible)
  • It protects the back & sides of the phone
  • The glass on camera no longer touches the surface where the phone is lying
  • The phone is a lot easier to hold since it gives the phone a rubbery grip
  • It's easier to pick the phone up (since it adds a little bit of thickness)
The phone will no longer slide into the remote controller arms with this case attached, but the arms securely hold it in place when they are pressed against the sides of the phone. As long as you're careful, the phone should not fall out of the remote controller.

I was looking at something just like that. I had forgotten how hard these things are to pick up off the desk without a grippy case. Thanks.

I've got the green one. Don't like it, very cheap-feeling and basic. And those fake carbon fiber things look nothing like the picture, more like laminated or melted plastic. But it does the job with the grip, that's all that matters.

The worst part? It costs the same $7.99 as this Wundercase: :D

is there a specific reason you have your MP in a bag?

For $7, I think it's a great deal. It does not seem cheaply made to me. Sure, it's not an OtterBox. You're not going to get superb OtterBox quality for $7 though.
