I reckon that these images give good indication of IQ from the two cameras. Thanks for posting.Topaz AI 48mp up-rezed from 12mp.
The fact that one would have to do so much work in post ,leads me to believe the 1" sensor on the Air 3S is at fault, not enoughThat is what I was worried about when I saw the spec of 50MP 1" sensor. I thought to myself what???
I think my Autel Lite+ with the 1" 20mp variable app.camera will easily outperform this. It's probably a decent drone for videos but not really suitable for (serious) photography if you want a higher resolution than 12 MP. The 12 MP images are still noisy and show quite some colour artefacts but naturally these are not as visible as in the artificially enlarged 50 MP files. Personally, I'm waiting for the Mavic 4 now, even though I didn't want to spend that much money on a new drone. Buying the Air 3S doesn't make any sense to me, though, if my six year old drone still takes better pictures.
Lets's not get carried away. My thoughts are just that, my thoughts. They are mostly based on my experience with Mavic3Pro 48MP sensor behind the 70mm lens and on the very few sample photos I have seen showing some weird noise issues. The 12MP mode I expect to be ok and delivering clean images though at a bit less than expected resolution. IMHO 20MP 1" sensor would have been better option for the main 24mm camera. But I am not in the market for this drone anyway because my M3P does everything I need. All I do is watching the space and expressing my thoughts. The fact that one would have to do so much work in post ,leads me to believe the 1" sensor on the Air 3S is at fault, not enough
resolution.I am passing on this without any thought at all.and am going to wait for the Mavic 4.Or still may consider the Mavic 3 pro.
In theory, the larger pixel size due to the larger sensor on the Air 3S should yield better image quality and more dynamic range. If it isn't, then there is something going on with the processing.Lets's not get carried away. My thoughts are just that, my thoughts. That is very plausible. The 20MP over 12MP and variable aperture allowing you to stop down for better uniform sharpness across the entire frame are obvious advantages. But Air3S has the 70mm on top of the 24mm and that is hard to beat with the Autel..I think my Autel Lite+ with the 1" 20mp variable app.camera will easily outperform this.
I know what you mean about the nice 70mm lensThat is very plausible. The 20MP over 12MP and variable aperture allowing you to stop down for better uniform sharpness across the entire frame are obvious advantages. But Air3S has the 70mm on top of the 24mm and that is hard to beat with the Autel..
Yes, having the 70mm lens was the reason for my purchase... plus my Air 2S is now 300 feet under water! That is very plausible. There was a comparison between Mavic 3 Pro, Air 3, and 3S, 4k video, main camera. I can't find that link, if anyone can remember, please link for us to the YT video or the post here.
The reviewer knows his stuff, was careful in his setup and testing. For 4k video, the A3S was the winner, you can see it for yourself. Since video is my main usage, I'm sold, and will be upgrading to the 3S (if anyone is interested in dealing on a barely used A3 RC2 FMC, PM me).
Even with YouTube compression, the differences were noticeable. Now I’m even more excited to get the Air 3S.
