I might be up for that. I haven't been out this morning yet, it's a beautiful day out there so I'm not sure how crowded the parks will be. I was thinking maybe the huge open area between downtown Summerlin and Towne center might be good. Where were you thinking and when?

That works for me. I got some plans early evening so any time before 3:00pm works for me. I haven't been over by downtown summerlin yet but it's not far from me. What time works for you?

The sports park on Rampart and Vegas is cool too. There's a golf course right by there and a big area. I park in the parking lot for the sports park in the corner and no one is around usually (even when it's busy)

Old thread but anyone want to do some flying this weekend? I'm from out of town but am bringing my Mavic with me and would love to get some cool shots.
New this this forum and also just purchased my first drone, a Mavic Pro which will be arriving on Thursday afternoon. Looking to see if anyone from Vegas will be out flying. Looking to meet people in the local area who have a Mavic. Maybe I can get some pointers as well as see what the Mavic will do with an experienced pilot.
I might be flying on Saturday. Still trying to figure out where to go. I'm in Henderson. What part of town do you live in?
I live out by Mt Charleston in the Centennial Hills area but willing to drive anywhere in town.
Is this place good to get nice views of Red Rock Canyon? And do you get any warnings your transmitter about flying there?
I have no idea where to fly here. Just ordered my first drone which is the Mavic Pro and I've never flown before. It will be here tomorrow evening. I'm just looking for a wide open field where I can start to learn and hopefully hook up with an experienced pilot that has one. Hoping to get some pointers and make sure I have everything configured properly.
Hoping your Mavic has arrived. Not too sure now about flying tomorrow as the weather says there is a wind advisory until 5pm Saturday! We'll just have to wait and see what really happens.
There is a nice open field on Las Vegas Blvd just north of the M Casino. I flew there once and it's a great place for testing as it's wide open!
Thanks for asking! It did show up yesterday and it's awesome!!! I bought the Fly More package, prop protectors, a tablet mount, etc. There was a little wind last night but I was itching to give it a try. I was able to fly it for 10-15 minutes in front of the house. It started up in beginner mode which was perfect. Looking forward to learning more about it as all I did last night is practice takeoff and landing. I seen the wind advisory for this weekend.I was hoping to take my boat out on the lake but think I'm going to have to wait on that also. Hopefully the wind dies down enough where I can go out and fly a little more this weekend.

I'd be game to fly with others, I just bought my Mavic Pro today. Drove all the way to Washington, UT to get it. The people at Best Buy on Stephanie (Henderson) were very nice to call the Utah store and ask them to hold it since I was driving 2 hours to purchase it. They did and I am now an owner, yay!
Hey Vegas locals.
I'm planning a kayak trip down to the Colorado river near Willow Beach, about 12 miles south of Hoover Dam. Are you familiar?
Have you flown there? Is it even possible since I'll be inside 120ft walls of canyons? What should I do to fly the mavic between these walls, over water, and safely land on the beach where I'll be standing? I'm a newbie here so I have lots to learn.
Also, will the mavic even take off considerrnig it's a national park and maybe a NFZ? Please, I need some advice.
I was told to remove RTH since I'll be flying over water, any advice on that?

I went to Willow Beach a few weeks ago. I took my P4, was about to fly it when I thought I'd better ask just in case. I went into the little store there at Willow Beach and I walked up to the cashier. I asked, "Are quadcopters banned here?" She knew exactly what I was talking about and politely said, "No, you cannot fly anything here." Sometimes people look at you funny when you say, "quadcopter" or "drone". I never said the word "fly" or "drone", so I took it that she knew what it was and left it at that.

I was flying mine out by that cave and trail near Ft. Apache & Warm Springs last weekend. Let me know whenever you guys wanna meet up and fly. Im up for it
I am open on Fridays after 12pm, Saturdays until 3pm, and Sundays until 6 pm.
